I thought it would be cool if people told their stories about discovering Charli since I doubt all of us began stanning her after Boom Clap lol
I'll go first - I was a huge Marina & the Diamonds stan back in 2013 and I loved Just Desserts as soon as I heard it. I really liked Charli's "darker" vocals in the song so I listened to True Romance and here we are.

I randomly stumbled upon True Romance on some blog in summer 2013 and fell in love with it. Sadly I stopped following Charli’s career after hearing Boom Clap and got interested in her again only last year. I am so sad I missed the Vroom Vroom era lol

Tbh, I always loved the hook on Fancy, and Boom Clap was a cool song... really catchy and it had a "better" quality to me than most of the current pop songs. But I actually, at the time before discovering Charli, had always thought that Gwen Stefani was the singer on both tracks... Then I happened to catch SNL one night and Boom Clap was playing and it was the all-girl Sucker band. I was like, "yooo, this is that Boom Clap song, these girls can play, and that's not Gwen, but uh wow, she's actually kinda hot..." (Charli) lol. So then I looked up Sucker on iTunes and thought, "Wth, I'll give it a try..." and I was really pleasantly surprised with how solid and catchy the whole album was. I've always kinda liked punkish music, and play drums, so it was up my alley in that sense. It was really cool to see a female pop star explore that sound, when literally no one else would. It really kinda appealed to the musician in me, I guess... Then I wanted to know more about how the album came to be, and learned a bit about Charli... went to "Charli and Jack Do America" that year... shouted all the words and I stannn... I stan to this day.

My friend was hyping the release of You're the One so I thought I would check her out. I vividly remember freaking out because I loved everything she had released at that point lol

I remember finding her on a music site I believe...a forum I think, and it was for her song You're the one. I then fell in love with stay away. Once her album released Take my hand sold me and I bought the LP. Then I kind of lost interest shortly, and then Boom clap saved my life ! and then I lost interest again...because Sucker was..and then PC music happened and I don't think I'll ever turn away again

Then I kind of lost interest shortly, and then Boom clap saved my life ! and then I lost interest again...because Sucker was..and then PC music happened and I don't think I'll ever turn away again I remember the first time I heard Stay Away... it was after Sucker had already come out, and after liking that album a lot I went back to check out TR... I put it on when I was on my way to work and it was kind of a dark and gray kind of morning and Stay Away came on and I felt like the song and overall mood was just right. The beat and production was just like... "murderous" lol, idk... like I just felt drained of all emotion. Blank stare as I was driving... It was like one of those songs where you can turn it up loud and almost get pulled right "into" the music, as if you're fully, consciously immersed in it and the atmosphere it creates. That's one thing about Charli's production... it has always been really stellar. One of the things that sets her apart. I couldn't agree more with her views here... it really kinda helps illustrate what I'm talking about. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XixRMIKvIjA
